Projects
At We Worthy Women, all of our work is done in collaboration with partners from community groups, non-profit organizations, government, and post-secondary/academia. We are currently collaborating on three community-focused initiatives that align with our organizational priorities to support GBV prevention initiatives, generate and mobilize knowledge, and create opportunities to connect and convene.
Please reach out if you are interested in getting involved with any of our current projects, or if you have an idea for an initiative that might be a good fit!
Ongoing Projects
New Roots
New Roots is an initiative that addresses the intersection of gender-based violence, financial literacy, and migration by equipping newcomer women with tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to financial abuse. New Roots is a collective impact initiative with four community partners: Atlantic Muslim Resource Centre (AMRC), Immigrant Migrant Women’s Association of Halifax (IMWAH), Transition House Association of Nova Scotia (THANS), and We Worthy Women. This program is unique in its rural focus, culturally responsive design, and commitment to sustainable capacity building and knowledge generation.

Men For Change Working Group
Men for Change is a community working group that brings together those who work with men and boys in gender-based violence prevention across Nova Scotia. This working group has over 40 participants from community organizations, government, healthcare, and academia, who come together for virtual meetings to share best practices, discuss challenges in their work, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The Men for Change Working Group has been meeting monthly since September 2025, and two sub-committees (GBV Education and Research) have been created as a result of these meetings. If you are interested in learning more or joining the working group, reach out to Holly at holly@weworthywomen.com.
Knowledge Synthesis Project
The Knowledge Synthesis Project is an initiative in partnerships with Be the Peace Institute, IWK Mental Health and Addictions, Nova Scotia Health Healthy Communities, Second Story Women’s Centre, Transition House Association of Nova Scotia (THANS), and We Worthy Women to develop a GBV strategy for Nova Scotia, based on existing reports and recommendations. For this initiative, we have analyzed thousands of resources with the support of AI to identify best-practices for GBV prevention and Nova Scotia specific risk factors.

Past Projects
Action Now Atlantic
Action Now Atlantic (ANA) was a federally funded initiative and campaign to address sexual violence within post-secondary communities in Atlantic Canada through education, advocacy, and community engagement. Through this project, we created educational material, developed platforms for youth advocacy, and supported a cross-provincial network of knowledge and resource mobilization in an effort to promote a culture of consent on campuses across Atlantic Canada.
Focus: Post-Secondary Institutions
Safer Schools Survey
The Safer Schools Survey was an initiative to better understand student and alumni experiences with sexual violence and consent education & resources at Canadian post-secondary institutions. Our aim was to identify current gaps and challenges on campuses across Canada, and share recommendations for change to better support survivors and end sexual violence in post-secondary communities.
Focus: Post-Secondary Institutions
It’s Not Just
We Worthy Women was a community partner for It’s Not Just, a youth focused gender-based violence awareness campaign from Women and Gender Equality Canada. As a community partner, we supported the development of education content, distributed campaign materials to community organizations across Atlantic Canada, and amplified the voices of youth from our community.
